Space pirates, ahoy! Cathryn Cade’s
HEART OF STONE is an erotic science fiction romance featuring a space pirate
hero. As of this posting it’s free at
Smashwords.
He's a reformed space pirate ... or is he?
On the planet of Frontiera, Rose Thorne is out to
save her brother. But when she holds his disreputable boss at gunpoint, Stone
Masterson shows her just how ruthless he can be ... and how tender.
Their passion will scorch the heat shields on his
space cruiser. But with pirates on the loose, is she safe in his arms, or just
a pawn in his quest to rule this wild, new planet?
Another red hot space opera from the author of The
Orion Series.

Author Craig Hallam posted a free steampunk romance
short on his blog: THE
HEART IS A CLOCK. It’s so cute! Here are some tags that
came to mind as I read it:
* Russian Hero
* Plucky maid heroine
* Beauty and the Beast
* Downton Abbey type atmosphere in a London setting
* Steampunk cyborg
* Sweet heat level
Enjoy!

Renee Hieber has a new steampunk ebook called THE
WORLD OF TOMORROW IS SADLY OUTDATED. The story isn’t a science fiction romance
per se, but it includes romantic elements and features loving relationships.
Given the varied tastes of the passengers here I thought you’d be interested to
know about it. Here’s the blurb
A STEAMPUNK / FUTURISTIC / DYSTOPIAN
NOVELLA (20,000 words)
New York City: The Year is 1889.
New York City: The year is the
future.
In 1889 a group of bold
pseudo-scientists discover the "temporal current" and begin to view
the distant futures that await the Empire City. In the future, all life as we
know it has crumbled, leaving New York City a ghost town with a populous
scrabbling to survive underground. In the past it's up to an unlikely group of
Victorian heroines and heroes to preserve something of their world to save
their future generations. In the future it's up to an unlikely group of
survivors to take a leap of faith; discovering what their ancestors left for
them with no more guarantees than love and hope.
Also, if you like alien heroes and cyberpunk-induced
telepathy, then Kat Cantrell’s
forthcoming book MINDLINK
(April 2013, Carina Press) might be up your alley. Here’s the 411:
The alien research director designated ZXQ-One devised a plan to let the humans volunteer their best and brightest in a gamble to solve his people’s energy crisis. But he fails to find anything useful and winds up imprisoned alongside the fiery human woman who refuses to give up, and who insists on calling him Sam.
After an accidental link between their implants lets them share their thoughts, they find themselves drawn to each other. Sam will have to trust in her human compassion and forgiveness for his role in her capture, and Ashley will have to trust him with her deepest secrets if they are to have any chance at survival…

Via SF Signal I found a neat article at Bad Reputation: Young Avengers #1: Sex and the Female Gaze. The article analyzes how “…the opening sequence of Young Avengers provides the reader with a three-page essay on the (straight/bi) female gaze.” The scene depicted reminds me of many science fiction romances that approach storytelling in a similar way, one I appreciate very much.
And last but not least, a friendly reminder that
